Betty Sue Owen

Betty Sue Owen, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, faithful Christian, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on July 15, 1936, to the late Robert Guy Beason and Inez Martin Beason. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, William H. Owen.

Betty was a woman of strong faith who remained devoted to the Lord throughout her life. She was a faithful member of Christ Central Church in Rainbow City, where her gentle spirit and love for others were evident to all who knew her.

Betty attended Etowah High School before graduating from Ashville High School. She began her career as a secretary at Ashville School and later dedicated 34 years of service to Eastside Mental Health. She was known for her dependability, kindness, and willingness to help others.

After retirement, Betty continued giving her time and heart to her community. She volunteered at Gadsden Regional Hospital for many years and received several awards recognizing her outstanding volunteer service. She also volunteered at the local food pantry, where she continued doing what she loved most—helping people. Betty never hesitated to lend a helping hand to someone in need.

Those who knew Betty will remember her for the love she gave so freely and her gentle, caring spirit. She loved deeply and treasured her family. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, cooking, and cheering on her beloved Alabama football team.

Betty is survived by her two children, Cecil Elders and Sherry Johnson; her grandson, Jacob (Amber) Elders; seven great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Tommy Beason and Robert Beason. She also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, church family, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.

Betty’s life was a testament to faith, love, kindness, and service. She touched countless lives through her work, volunteer service, and, most importantly, through the love she shared with her family and everyone around her. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for others.

Though her family and friends will miss her dearly, they can find comfort knowing that her life made a difference and that her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 4, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Steele Cemetery in St. Clair County, Alabama.
