A private graveside service will be held for Betty Carolyn Sprayberry at Rainbow Memorial Gardens, who passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021. Betty was a native of Gadsden. She lived in Attalla for the last 44 years. She was a member of Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she played the piano for many years. She proudly held the position of custodian at Smith Chapel until she retired. She was an avid walker and enjoyed being outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Sprayberry; daughter, Cynthia Clowdus; parents, Clarence and Azzie Baker; brother, Arnold Baker; sister, Elizabeth Hathcock; and nephews, Randy Baker and Tim Baker.
She leaves behind her son, Steven Minyard (Alice); daughter, Christy Naugher (Tracy); granddaughters, Jennie Gil (Dan), Hayley Taylor-Green (Travis), and Karah Naugher (Dalton Boyd); grandsons, Christopher Jordan (Chloe), Kayle Naugher (Linda) and Michael Clowdus; brother, C.L. Baker (Becky) sister-in-law, Bertie Baker; nephews, Mike Hathcock (Debbie), Terry Hathcock, and Leslie Baker; nieces, Belinda Edwards and Lana Cantrell (Curtis); and numerous great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses, doctors, and staff of Gadsden Regional Medical Center, Keith Collier, her neighbors the Conley's, Reverend Neil Ford and wife Joan and their daughters for faithfully visiting. To those that visited, brought her meals and sent cards over the last two years, we thank you. And special thanks to Dr. K.J. Shah for your many years as her primary doctor.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Shepherd's Cove Hospice in Albertville AL. for the dedication and the exceptional care you showed to Ms. Sprayberry and to her family. Because of you, we were able to spend the remaining days with our mother. We will be forever grateful. Each of you were a blessing to us, and there will never be enough words to convey our thankfulness.
Due to Covid19, there will be a private burial with a memorial service at a later date. The family welcomes donations to Shephard’s Cove Hospice 408 Martling Road, Albertville, Alabama 35951, as an expression of sympathy instead of flowers.
