Carolyn (Helms) McNew

Funeral services for Carolyn will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 17, 2025. The family will receive visitors in the Chapel from 11:00am until the time of the service at 1:00pm. A private family graveside will follow at Collinsville Cemetery. Chaplain Matt Rose to officiate the service.

Carolyn was born in Sand Rock, AL to John and Sadie Helms. She was a faithful member of Stowers Hill Baptist Church. Carolyn taught Children’s Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School for many years. She worked as a Bank Teller at the Alabama City Bank for many years, where she became close friends with fellow employees. Carolyn loved God and her family above all else.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George McNew; father, John Helms; mother, Sadie Helms; and brothers, John Helms Jr. and Gwen Helms.

Carolyn is survived by her sons, Michael McNew (Elaine), and Monte McNew (Jean); granddaughters, Shea McNew, Cally McNew, and Rebecca McNew; sister, Janice Arther; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers are Danny McCoy, Roger Kilgore, Teddy Helms, Reggie Killen, David Holderfield, and Phil Petty.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to the employees of ACG Hospice (Hope Hospice): Kelsey Hill, Bridgett Poole, Kelsey Young, Janet Wilkie and Matt Rose. To mom’s caregivers: Brooke Owen, Christal Gray, Diane Whitmore, Kelli McMahan, Suzanne Holsonback and Kim Huff.
