Carolyn S. Roberts

Carolyn S. Roberts, age 83, of Steele, Alabama passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025. A visitation will take place from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm on Wednesday, November 5th 2025 at First Baptist Church Ashville, 85 5th Ave, Ashville, AL 35953, With a funeral service following at 12:00 pm officiated by Bro. Nathan Daniels. The committal will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 6th, 2025 at the Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Hwy 119, Montevallo, AL 35115.

Carolyn Roberts, our beloved decedent, was born in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1942, to Edgar and Myrtle Robinson. She had two older brothers, Gerald and Jackie, a younger sister, Judy, and an adopted brother, Johnny Marvin McCoy. Carolyn graduated from Hueytown High School. In 1963, she married James, and they welcomed their first child, Cheryl, in 1964, followed by John in 1969. They built their first home in 1970, where they lived until 1998. In 1999, they built their retirement home in Steele, Alabama, where they have spent the past 27 years. Carolyn loved gardening, sewing, baking, and working in the church. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, teaching them the importance of the church and God, and also enjoyed time with her great-grandchildren. For over 45 years, she dedicated herself to the children’s ministry, VBS and Foster Children’s Party. In her final weeks, Carolyn was surrounded by the loving care of her family at home. She was a dedicated church member with a deep faith in the Lord.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her Father, Edgar Silas Robinson; her Mother, Myrtle Irene Robinson; Brother, Gerald Robinson; Sister, Judy Albright; Nephew, Terry Albright; and Niece, Teressa Robinson.

She is survived by her Husband, James A. Roberts Jr.; Daughter, Cheryl (Dave) Sorenson (Daughter); Son, John A.(Penny C.) Roberts; Brothers, Jackie(Pat) Robinson, Johnny (Debbie) McCoy; Granddaughters, Jessica(Tom) Beer, Erin (Justin) Ford; Great-Grandchildren, Paisley Ford, Stevie Ford; Sister-in-law, Bobbie Robinson; Niece, Linda(Jackie) Milam; Ronald(Gwendolyn) Robinson(Nephew) and their Children, Danielle Tickell, Tabitha Robinson, Shelby Robinson and Sterling Robinson;Niece, Michelle Robinson; and Niece April Lynn Finley and her Children, Samantha Finley and Seth Finley.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Bruce Smith, Steve Daniel, Barry Brigmon, Charles Sansing, John Massey, and TJ James.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Jackie Milam, Dave Sorenson, Justin Ford, and Tom Beer.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Ashville New Church Building Fund.
