

Funeral Services for Charles will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 11:00 am. Pastor Michael Niemi to officiate
Charles was born in Lafayette, Indiana on 19 August 1942. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy experiencing the Mediterranean cruise. After a short time in civilian life, he spent 18 months in Viet Nam, finishing out his Navy career in San Diego, California. He moved to Peoria, Illinois where he continued his career as an Electronics Technician in the telecommunications industry. Over the years, his career took Charles and his family to Louisville, Kentucky, Indianapolis, Indiana and Orlando, Florida where he retired in March of 2008.
Upon his retirement Charles and Lynette moved to Rainbow City, Alabama and cared for his in-laws for 9 years. Charles enjoyed camping, traveling, writing, and carving. He was a devoted husband and an infinitely patient and dedicated Father and Grandfather. His loving presence will be greatly missed, but we rejoice knowing he is with our God and Savior.
Preceded in death by his father, William D. Mickler; mother, Geneva R. Perry Mickler; sister, Corda Ruth Mickler Clark; and nephew, William Scott Bussell.
Charles is survived by his wife, Lynette Shinkle Mickler; sons, William Mickler, Tyson and Aletta Mickler, Spencer and Madison Mickler; and sister, Donna and David Bussell; and numerous nephews and niece.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to: Meadowbrook Baptist Church (Missions or Youth Programs).
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Birmingham Veterans Hospital and the Amedisys staff, who cared for Charles and family with prayer, thoughtfulness and wisdom.
