Christopher Darren Burton, 60, of Steele passed away April 3, 2021. Funeral service will be held at Chandler Mountain Baptist Church Wednesday April 7, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Chandler Mountain Baptist Church.
Chris Burton was born June 4, 1960. Chris was a loving devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and he loved his church and church family. Chris was a member of Chandler Mountain Baptist Church. Chris was a staple in the church, as he was a Deacon, a Sunday School Teacher, a youth director and music director. He had a great passion for music and for singing praises to his savior. Chris also had a passion for sports and Alabama Football. He grew up playing baseball and football and played softball for many years of his adult life. He enjoyed so much seeing his Crimson Tide on top of the football world but it paled in comparison to coaching and watching his boys and grandkids play ball and seeing them succeed in sports. He loved being at sporting events so much and hated anything that stood in his way of being there. Ballparks, football fields and gyms everywhere will forever remember his voice as he cheered for his team. Referees and umpires may remember that voice forever in a different way but will miss his passion at every game. Chris was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad where he worked for 33 years. Chris enjoyed to hunt and fish with his sons and grandsons. Chris also enjoyed classic cars and trucks as you would often find him at home watching car shows and auctions on tv when you walked in the door. He also enjoyed the year he spent with his exchange student son from Iceland, Axel Margeirsson and the bond forever shared with Axel and his family. Axel was like another son to him. Chris loved his children and told everyone how proud he was of both of them and all of their accomplishments. He loved his grandchildren so much, as he was quick to let everyone know he had the best grand babies on this Earth and would light up every time he saw their faces. Of all of the things Chris was passionate about he was most passionate for his wife of 41 years (Lynn). He loved Lynn with all of his heart and no doubt he took a piece of her heart with him when he left this world and he’s in heaven now just waiting for the day he can be with Lynn again. You rarely saw one without the other and they enjoyed all of the years and all of the time spent together making memories and raising a family. Chris lived a full life and loved people and touched so many lives in so many ways and will forever be missed by his family and friends and all that knew him.
Chris is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Lynn Burton; children, Brandon (Brandi) Burton, and Eric Burton; grandchildren, Case Burton, Tyson Burton and Easton Burton; brothers, Keith (Sandy) Burton, Ken (Nancy Jo) Burton.
Chris was proceeded in death by his unborn child Baby Burton; parents, Jamie and Marlene Burton; father and mother-in-law, Horace and Norma Warren.
