

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 2021, at Morgan Funeral Chapel, for Curtis Dale Burks, 68, of Steele who passed away on March 17, 2021. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time. A Military burial will be in Rainbow Memorial Gardens following the service. Morgan Funeral Chapel directing.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Edward and Thelma Stocks Burks.; father-in-law, Rev. J.W. Knight; and two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Williams and Mikki Knight.
Dale is survived by his wife, Kim Knight Burks, daughters, Kristy (Ricky) Batista, Kimberly Stephenson, step-daughter, Brandy (Michael) Serio; grandsons, Will Batista, Nic Batista, Vinny Serio, and Damien Serio. Sisters, Brenda Williams, Deborah (Sonny) Miller and Penny (Glenn) Pondick, sisters-in-law, Jo Knight Reed and Debbie Knight, brother, Johnny (Mickey) Burks, brother-in- law, Ron (Joyce) Knight, mother-in-law, Helen Knight; several beloved nieces and nephews and the love of his life “Daddy’s Boy” …..Mik.
Dale was born in Etowah County on April 4, 1952 . He worked for and retired from The Gadsden Police Department after 20 years. He was in the Army National Guard retiring after 33 years of duty including two tours in Germany. After returning home from his last tour, Dale went to work for the Etowah County Sheriff's Department where he retired after 10 years of service.
He was a valuable member and a faithful servant at Freedom Church. He loved the Lord, his family, food and Alabama football. Dale never met a stranger and seemed to know someone wherever he went. He would never want this to be a sad occasion because he knew where home would be. Let’s celebrate Dale’s love of life and remember in Dale’s words……”I love you more”.
