Gail worked most of her life as a bookkeeper for several businesses in Gadsden, Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia. Gail, lovingly referred to as Nana, was an avid Auburn Tiger fan. If Auburn football was playing on TV, she was watching, and if it was playing on the radio, she was listening. She was always decked out in her orange and blue with her hat on. She also enjoyed watching old Western movies and shows. She said it reminded her of her childhood. She loved to read and prior to losing her sight, she always had a book in her hands. Her family loved her cooking, especially her chicken, dressing, and potato salad. They would line up around the table just to get the first scoop.
Gail is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Verna Mae Swindall; husband Charles Ray Thompson; brothers Floyd and Edward Swindall; sisters-in-law Joyce, Pat, and Peggy Swindall.
Gail is survived by her son Tommie (Susie) Carr; grandsons T.J. (Lauren) Carr, Kylor (Destiny) Carr; great grand twins Colter and Cordelia Carr; sister Barbara Lecroy; brother Allen Swindall; and many nieces and nephews.
