

Orcilene Silvey Rhodes Daniel, affectionately known as Miss Ork, with her family by her side, left this world on 2/27/2024. Born on January 12, 1939, in Gadsden, Alabama, a graduate of Southside High School Class of 1957 where she encouraged others as part of the cheerleading squad. Miss Ork was the beloved daughter of Frank and Zella Mae Silvey, and she's joined her six brothers James, Stanley, Nonley, Pat, Howard, Mark, and her first husband ,Thomas Rhodes.
Miss Ork is survived by her daughter Kay Rhodes of Atlanta, Georgia, her son Jim Rhodes of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and her devoted husband of 30 years, Howard Daniel of Gallant, Alabama. She also leaves behind sister in law, Andrea Silvey of Phoenix, Arizona, niece Sheila Ingram of Trussville, Alabama, and nephew Bruce Silvey of Huntsville, Alabama. Friends who she considers family are Harriet Beggs and Alice Godfrey.
A woman of deep faith, Miss Ork was an active member of Gallant Rd. Baptist Church led by Pastor Mark Martin. She dedicated much of her life to church activities and Bible studies, finding solace and community in her spiritual journey.
Miss Ork's heart overflowed with love for children, leading her to run a daycare center in Southside, Alabama for many years. Later, she ventured into the catering business alongside her youngest brother, Mark. Her nurturing spirit extended to all living beings, as evidenced by her love for animals, nature, and gardening.
For over three decades, Miss Ork and Howard transformed their 6-acre homestead into a garden paradise, cultivating fruit trees, giant elms and oaks, evergreens, and vibrant flower and vegetable gardens. Their love for the great outdoors took them on countless adventures, hiking the Grand Canyon and spending summers camping and glamping in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.
Miss Ork embraced life with gratitude and unwavering faith, expressing her thankfulness for each day as a gift from the Lord. Her strong trust in God's plan and her conviction to live according to His will defined her character until her last breath.
Her inner strength and resilience inspired all who knew her, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and an enduring appreciation for the beauty of life. May Miss Ork's soul soar in peace in the highest heavens, forever with a song in her heart. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were touched by her remarkable presence.
Graveside Service will be held at 1pm Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Williams Southside Memorial Gardens with Pastor Mark Martin officiating.
