

Eloise Mitchell Cox passed away on Thursday February 18, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents Willard L. Mitchell and Frances Hill Hutchins, her loving husband John Thomas Cox Sr., daughter Gail Denise Cox, 1 sister and 2 brothers.
Left on this earth to carry out her legacy of selfless compassion, caring love, giving spirit and godly ways are her 3 children Tommy Cox, Genia Cox, Glenn (Lauren) Cox and Jeff Filmore; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, 1 brother, special chosen son Bo Shirley, special daughters Lisa Taylor McLaughlin and Anita Danser and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other special friends.
Eloise Cox was born in Gadsden Alabama on August 17th, 1939. She was a Mother and Granny to anyone that met her. She loved baking, dressing up for the holidays and her grandkids, spending time outdoors taking care of her flowers, baking cakes, and watching Alabama football, NASCAR and the Atlanta Braves. Eloise was also a Glencoe Highschool Band mother to all from the mid 1970’s to the mid 1980’s, and an active volunteer in the community. She retired after a long and successful career with Kmart.
Her passion for serving others led to a long, devoted commitment to the Helen Rebekah Lodge:
Sister Eloise joined Helen Rebekah Lodge #30 on February 14, 1965 and served in that lodge until her death. Sister Eloise has served at every station in her home lodge numerous times. She was also an Associate member in many other lodges in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Florida. She has served as: President of the Alabama State Assembly, President of the Auxiliary, President of the South Eastern Assembly, Representative to the International Assembly. She was serving as Alabama State Secretary and a 2-year trustee at the time of her death. She always served wherever she was needed and did so with much grace and love. She was also a member of Oddfellows #70, Encampment #4 and Canton #2.
Pallbearers will be her 8 grandsons: Christopher Cox, Aaron Whitten, Addison Whitten, Jackson Cox, Joshua Cox, Zacary Daniel, Dustin Cox, Justin Cox

Visitation services will be on Tuesday evening February 23rd from 5:00-7:00 pm at Morgan Funeral Home Attalla Alabama. Funeral services will be Wednesday February 24th at 2:00 pm with Rev. Phillip Brewer officiating. The family will receive visitors 1 hour prior to the service.
