George Terriel Elliott

Funeral Services for Mr. George Terriel Elliott, age 81 of Rainbow City, will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Morgan Funeral Chapel with his brothers officiating. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.

George passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023 at his home, after an extended illness surrounded by his wife and his children. George graduated from Minor High School in Birmingham Alabama in 1961. He attended Itawamba College in Mississippi on a baseball scholarship. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1962 but received a medical discharge in 1963.

George worked for IBM from 1963 to 1993 as a Customer Field Engineer. After he retired from IBM, he opened his own Computer business, E&M Services, in 1993 providing computer systems and services to local businesses and governmental agencies. He sold E&M Services in 2009 and retired for good. He and his wife purchased a vacation cabin in Waterloo Alabama in 2005 and spent many weeks and weekends sitting on the back porch in rocking chairs watching the creek flow by.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, George and Geneva Elliott; and his daughter-in-law, Tara Taylor Elliott.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Ruth Weston Elliott; and his four children, Terriel Keith Elliott, Geneva Suzanne Hollen (Ken), George Alexander Elliott (April), and Jewel Lynette Whitt (Randy); grandchildren, Kendall Hollen Tankersley (Chaz), Leiland Hollen, Austin Elliott (Sarah), Tucker Elliott, Hannah Whitt, and Lexi Whitt; one great-grandchild, Thomas Tankersley; brothers; Gerald Elliott (LoweAnn) of Pearland Texas and Barry Elliott (Brenda) of Birmingham Alabama; and many nephews and nieces.

A special thank you to the nurses and staff of Dr Khaleel K. Ashraf at Brookwood Medical Center; and the nurses and staff at Enhabit Hospice, Peyton, Brittany, Bridget, Brandon, Suzanne, Missy and Tammy.

Pallbearers will be Tucker Elliott, Chaz Tankersley, Randy Whitt, Mark Barrier, Phillip Hensley, and Leiland Hollen.

Honorary pallbearers are Nate Oliver, Austin Elliott, and Thomas Tankersley.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 12:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M. at Morgan Funeral Chapel.
