Born January 29, 1951, in the Egypt Community, Gerald was a life-long resident of Etowah County. He was raised in Walnut Grove, settling his own family in Gallant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Forest F. and Imogene Lee Green; sisters, Bessie Moore, Myrtle Mizell Butler, and Gaynell Lemons; brothers, John Wesley Green, William "Billy" Green, and Archie F. Green; niece, Vickey Ann Mercer, as well as nephew, Kerry Gene Mizell.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Joan Willingham Green, their son Adam Dale Green (Annaleigh Harris); mother-in-law, Dollie Willingham; sister, Annie Dixon; niece, Melissa Amos; nephews, Keith Hargett, Travis Mizell, Mickey Jerrold Lemons, Scott Dixon, Michael Dixon, Randall Green, Kevin Green, and honorary nephew, Mark Willingham. He also leaves behind several great nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins. Surviving special friends, Bobby Harris, Stanley Anderson, and Larry "Sarge" Payne.
Gerald was a 1969 Graduate of West End High School in Walnut Grove. He was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Gadsden.
Gerald loved spending time tending to his farm animals as well as sitting on his front porch swing with his dog, Peaches, waving to every car that passed.
He was a member of Carnes Chapel FCM Church, and most recently attended Samuels Chapel Church in Altoona.
Funeral services will be provided by Morgan Funeral Home in Attalla. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm until 2:30pm on Sunday, January 23, with the service immediately afterwards in the chapel. Longtime family friends, Rev. Frank Umphrey and Rev. Gary Baswell, will be officiating. Masks and social distancing precautions are requested by the family due to the present circumstances.
Burial will follow at Carnes Chapel FCM Church, off Hwy 278 West of Attalla.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
