Hobert Hess Hyatt
August 30, 1932 – May 11, 2018
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 at Steele United Methodist Church for Hobert H. Hyatt, 85, Steele, Alabama, who passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018. Burial will follow at Steele Cemetery. Revs. Vickie Cater and Tom Russell officiating and Morgan Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Hobert was born and raised on Chandler Mountain. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army and retired from Gulf States Steel in 1997 with 39 years of service. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Atlanta Braves. He loved farming, tilling the soil and watching plants grow, and then reaping a harvest to share with family and friends. He was a member of Steele United Methodist Church and the YMCA Bible Study Group.
He was preceded in-death by the love of his life for 60 years, Betty Bullard Hyatt and grandson, Justin Dale Hyatt.
He leaves behind his children; Danny and Becky Hyatt, Steele, Dale and Paula Hyatt, Hokes Bluff, Melanie and Randy Stone, Ashville, and Mark and Daphne Hyatt. Trussville. Grandchildren; Misti Hyatt, Gadsden, Crystal and Ben Gersh, Ashville, Jordan and Anna Teal, Hokes Bluff, Caleb Hyatt and Chandler Hyatt, Trussville, and great-grandchildren; John Henry McWaters, Riley Alexander Gersh, Sarah Grace and Ann Charlotte Teal, chosen daughter, Gail Sanders Hyatt, and sister, Ruby Nuss.
Pallbearers will be Phil Gleason, Dr. Philip Gleason, Jordan Teal, Ben Gersh, Caleb Hyatt and Chandler Hyatt. Honorary pallbearers are all personal friends,
Special thanks to 5th and 7th floor nursing staff and caretakers-at Riverview Regional Medical Center, Kindred Home Care and Oak Landing Assisted Living Facility.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Steele United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends at Steele United Methodist Church from 1 to 3p.m. on Monday.
