Howard Roberts

Funeral Service will be 11 AM Tuesday, Oct. 25 for Howard E. Roberts, age 76, of Altoona, who passed away October 21, 2016 at the Veteran’s Home in Pell City. Rev. Freddie Keener will officiate. Burial will be at Samuels Chapel Cemetery with Military Rites.

Howard had retired from the US Air Force with 22 years of service and was then employed as a Federal Meat Inspector for 26 years. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Thomas Roberts, infant son Lamar, mother and father Bethel and Ruby Roberts, grandparents Custer and Kate Roberts, and half-brother Bethel Roberts, Jr.

Survivors include daughter Denise Roberts, Altoona; son Thomas Roberts, Athens, AL; grandson T.J. Roberts, Decatur; great grandson Gage Roberts; sister and brother in law Mary Kate and Vernell Gibbs; half-sister Nancy O’Connel, Dora Kasler; brother Don Payne; special nephew Daryl Blanton and special cousin Duck Roberts.

Pallbearers will be Daryl, Bryan, and Hunter Blanton, Ernie Battles, Grant Nichols, and Ernie Payne.

Honorary Pallbearers will be 1958 graduating class of Altoona High School; and the staff, residents of Col. Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home.

The family has requested no flowers and would like memorials to be made to the Samuels Chapel Cemetery Fund.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from10 until 11 AM.
