J.D. was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1965-1967. He was attached to the 392nd transport detachment, "Keepers of the hornets" as an airframe repairman. He was a member of McEntyre Baptist Church for 53 years during which time he served as music director, deacon and teacher just to name a few. He worked many years at Rainbow City Hardware. Before retiring he was a supervisor at AAA Plumbing and Pottery. J.D never met a stranger and always had a joke or funny story to share. His wit will be missed.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife of almost 53 years, Lynette Robinson; daughter, Tina Robinson Urban (Donnie), chosen son Damien Whisnant (Holly); granddaughters, Autumn Brooke Urban Battles(Mason) and Lauren Sierra Urban; Great granddaughters Desiree Whisnant and Aurora Battles; brother, Luther Robinson.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Street, Damien Whisnant, Freddie Crowder, Mason Battles, Kyle Oliver and Jaden Pesqueda. Honorary pallbearers will be church family and friends.
Flowers will be accepted but in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Gideons, McEntyre Baptist Church, disabled veteran's groups or your favorite charity.
The family will receive friends from 12pm-1pm at Morgan Chapel.
