James B. Gaines Jr.

James was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather; a graduate of both Etowah High School and Auburn University. He was a member of New Faith Baptist Church (formerly Pleasant Valley Baptist Church). He lived in Theodore, AL, for 13 years and Stephens City, VA, for 20 years before residing in Attalla, AL. He was employed as a Civil Engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 37 years - in both the Mobile, AL, and Winchester, VA, offices.

Mr. Gaines was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda H. Gaines; parents, James B. Gaines, Sr. and Carrie Jo Gaines; parents-in-law William H. Hyde and Grace M. Hyde; brother, Gerald H. Gaines; and brother-in-law, James D. Hyde.

He is survived by his brother, Michael F. Gaines (Carol); brother, Stephen A. Gaines (Connie); brother-in-law, Louie T. Hyde (Ann); daughter, Janet G. Hughes (Kyle); son, David G. Gaines (Marsha); grandson, Riley D. Gaines; granddaughters, Rachel M. Gaines, Robyn G. Gaines, Ruby B. Gaines, and Jenna K. Hughes. James is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, New Faith Baptist Church, or the charity of your choice.
