James Eddie Holdbrook Jr.

James Eddie Holdbrook Jr. age 75 of Attalla passed away May 31, 2022. Funeral service will be at 11a.m. Friday, June 3, 2022 at Fairview Baptist Church (5295 Fairview Rd. Gadsden, AL 35904). Rev. Gary Williams and Rev. Bill Abbott will be officiating. Burial at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.

Eddie graduated from Etowah High School Class of 1966. He served in the United State Army during Vietnam from 1967-1968. He received many medals of honor including the Bronze Star. Later Eddie retired from Goodyear after 40 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Holdbrook; mother, Lorene Holdbrook; stepmother, Ola Holdbrook; sister, Sue Hyatt; and 6 brothers in law.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Laverne Holdbrook; daughter, Wendy Owens; son in law, Eric Owens; and light of his life granddaughter, Briley Owens; sisters, Mary Ann Riley, Shelby Bradley, Linda Story, Carolyn Battles, Sara Battles, and Judy Holdbrook; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends that were like family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church Building Fund.

Pallbearers will be Eric Owens, Tim Copeland, Miles Mason, Bill Smith, Paul Cromwell, Sammy O’Dell, and Scott Shannon.

Honorary pallbearers are Freddy and Jannette McGriff.

Visitation will be prior to the service Friday, June 3, 2022 at Fairview Baptist Church from 9a.m. until 11a.m.
