James Samuel Jones Jr.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday December 27, 2017 at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Centre with a lie in state from 1 to 2 P.M. Wednesday at the church.

The family will receive friends during visitation from 5 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday evening at Morgan Funeral Chapel.

The Rev. Larry Garrard, the Rev. Ricky Pollard and the Rev. Douglas Ford will officiate.

Mr. Jones was a minister for seventy-seven years and preached the gospel in many states and several countries. He was the pastor of several churches and spent eleven years as a full time evangelist/missionary. Most of his ministry was spent as pastor of First Baptist Church in Gramercy, LA. After moving to Centre, AL, Bro. Sam (as he was known to many) was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Roberts Jones; son, James Samuel “Sammy” Jones, III; mother, Thelma Davis; father, James Samuel Jones, Sr.; step-father, Sam Davis; sister, Martha Belyeu; and brother, Bobby Jones.

He leaves behind;

Daughters, Diane (Grayson) Giardina, Janet (Mark) Callahan, Jeanna Carroll.

Grandchildren, Jill (David) Bugner, Jonathan Giardina, Jeffrey Giardina, Kelly (Marvin) Thompson, Kristy (Shannon) Ramsey, Brian (Haley) Stirling, Lauren and Alison Carroll.

Five great-grandchildren, Andrew & Alyssa Stirling, Madalyn & Megan Ramsey, and Emma Carroll.
