Mr. James L. “Bucky” Sheffield, age 81 of Steele went home to be with the Lord on Sunday March 11, 2018. Mr. Sheffield’s funeral service will be held at 7 P.M. on Friday March 16, 2018 at Morgan Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday at the funeral home for two hours prior to the service, from 5 to 7 P.M. Dean Caudle will officiate the service. Interment with military honors will be held at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directing. Mr. Sheffield was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having proudly served his country for more than twenty years. His time in the Air Force included two tours in Vietnam, where he earned several medals and commendations, and extensive training in all aspects of aircraft maintenance. His training in the Air Force led to a career at Hayes Aircraft in Birmingham where he worked for more than twenty years until his retirement. James, or “Bucky” as he was known to his many friends, attended Reeves Grove Baptist Church and spent many evenings sharing conversations and meals with his friends at Cracker Barrel and Huddle House. A loving brother, uncle, and friend- he will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but we will always remember his quiet and generous spirit. Those preceding him in passing include his beloved wife, Tsuneko Sheffield; parents, Inzer and Dorothy Sheffield and brother, Inzer Wyight Sheffield, Jr. Mr. Sheffield leaves behind; His sister, Judy Atteberry (late husband, Jim Atteberry) Nephew, Kevin Atteberry (Wife, Amy) Niece, Stacy Caudle (Husband, Dean) Great-nephews, Hunter Atteberry and John Caudle Great-niece, Amanda Atteberry Along with a host of extended family and friends. Heartfelt thanks are extended to cousin, Linda Moyer and also to Rachel and Smoky. So many have volunteered their time and offered compassionate prayers in the caretaking of James and we appreciate you all so very much- thank you.
