Janie Swindall Newton
June 22, 1943 – April 7, 2018
Janie Swindall Newton, age 74 of Hokes Bluff passed away peacefully on April 7, 2018. Janie was born in St. Clair County Alabama, to the late James Henry & Zelda Ruth Swindall and retired from the Etowah County Board of Education after many years as a bus driver and teachers aide. Those preceding Janie in death include; her forever soulmate, Fred Griffith; parents, James Henry and Zelda Ruth Swindall; and sister-in-law, Mary Brasher Swindall. She leaves behind; Her three children- Patricia Williamson (Husband, John), Jimmy Hammett (Wife, Becky) and David Hammett (Wife, Sandy). Her siblings- Cathy Sheffield (Husband, Alan), Daniel Swindall (Wife, Dixie), Wayne Swindall (Wife, Janice) and Jeff Swindall. Sister-in-law, Gail Swindall. Along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff of Cherokee County Health and Rehab and also to Southern Care Hospice. Visitation will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel on Saturday April 14, 2018 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M., funeral service immediately following at 1 P.M. in the Chapel. Rev. Ross Swindall will officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will be held at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directing.
