Joan Nichols Payne

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Morgan Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Payne will lie-in-state on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Altoona from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at First Baptist Church Altoona. The Rev. Mylon Metcalf will officiate.

Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.

Mrs. Payne was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Altoona.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Morris Payne, her parents Garvis and Opal Nichols, her brothers Bill and Ray Nichols.

Mrs. Payne leaves behind her daughter Kelly (Rodney) Cole; sons, Shannon (Jan) Payne, Brannon (Darlene) Payne; grandsons Ryan (Amanda) and Alex Cole, Landon (Cora) and Garrett Payne; granddaughter Amber Payne; great-grandchildren Liam, Hamilton and Charlie; many nieces, nephews, family members and other loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the charity of your choice.
