Funeral Services for Mrs. Josie B. Brigmon Bishop Nelson, age 99 of Ashville, will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Morgan Funeral Chapel with Bro. Greg Sellers officiating. Graveside services will be held at Mount Zion Cemetery, Shoal Creek Valley, Ashville, AL. following the Funeral.

Josie B. Brigmon Bishop Nelson died peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at home with her family. She was born March 9, 1923, in Shoal Creek Valley, Ashville, AL, the daughter of Wesley Irvin Brigmon and Ruby Irene Brigmon.

Josie was an award-winning quilter and designer, a talented singer and multi-instrumentalist. She worked at the Pizitz bakery in The Gadsden Mall for many years and was well known for her cake designs and decorations. She also held a special interest in beauty, skin care, physical fitness and aging beauty. She competed in the 2002 Mrs. Senior Etowah County pageant. Josie was a devoted Christian who loved young people and taught Sunday school at Greensport Baptist Church in Shoal Creek Valley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her brothers James Hobart Brigmon, John Albert Brigmon, Wesley Clifton Brigmon and Infant Boy Brigmon; sisters Mary Elizabeth Brigmon (Sansone), Euphemia Brigmon and Nell Spradley; son James Blaine Bishop Sr.

She is survived by her daughter Lucretia (Carden) and her husband Gene, son Ronald Bishop, and brother Benjamin Spradley; eight grandchildren, James Blaine Bishop Jr. and his wife Rhonda, Melissa Patterson, Ron Bishop and his wife Renee, Christy Baker and her husband Richard, Stephen Bishop and his wife Amy, Karen Bishop, Michael Bishop and his wife Grace, and Rick Carden; 11 great- grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 11:30 A.M. until service time at 1:00 P.M.
