

Larry passed away on Tuesday September 1, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on July 8, 1944 in Etowah County... He was the son of Elze Clarence (E.C.) Phillips and Willie Bell Harp Phillips. Larry was known for his kindness, faith, and devotion to family and service to others. He treasured family, country, church, and his love for music.
He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through all who knew and loved him. Larry was a person of strong Christian faith. He found comfort and strength in the word and sought to live a life that honored God. His faith was not simply something he believed, it was a source of hope, strength, and perseverance throughout his life.
Larry served as chaplain at Northside Healthcare for 16 years, through Bellevue Baptist Church. As minister of music, he served the following churches, Kyle Avenue Baptist, Northside Baptist, Calvary Baptist, and West End Baptist.
Larry was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School. He served over 20 years in the Army National Guard. He was a graduate of the Alabama Military Academy and served several post as a Company Commander. He also received the Alabama Public Service Award. Larry was a retiree of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Linda Rasco Phillips; parents, Willie Bell Phillips, E.C and Virginia Phillips; brothers, Gerald (Ann) Phillips, and Artis (Patsy) Phillips; sister, Stella Ann (J.D) Huie; Chosen son, William Woodruff.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandi (Victor) Smith, Kristi (Willaim) Farmer; sister, Bonny Phillips Mothershed; brother, Tim Phillips, The Rasco Family and a host of nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Brittany (Scott Willis, Keshia (Austin) Smith, Payton (Dakota) Hammett, Tryston Smith (Katie), Keylton (Chace) Nappier, Krislyn Alford, Wilson (Taylor) Farmer, Micheal (Michele) Farmer, Megan (Ysidro) Morales, Brandi Farmer (Jeremy), Nicholas (Hillarie) Woodruff, Talia (James) Mayhall; great-grandchildren, Kylee Butterworth, Kane, Kacelyn, and Kree Minyard, Lucas and Anderson Smith, Piper and Ripken Hammett, Emrynn Nappier, Maisyn and Jy Farmer, Rylee Parker, Addilyn Farmer, Sophia and Mia Morales, Merissa Hill (Samuel) Tynzleigh and Scarlett Thrasher, Kaden McCoy, Sadie Mayhall, Lilyann, Weston, and Lainey Woodruff.
Pallbearers will be Tryston Smith, Wilson Farmer, Micheal Farmer, Larry LeCroy, Patrick Widner, and Michael Cushing. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ben Reed, Gary Ray, Michael LeCroy, and the late Kenny Widner.
Special friends and neighbors, Todd, Kim, Andrew, and Blake Owens, Deepak, Monica, Drew Patel, the late Myrtle Cushing, the late Kenny Widner, and the late Bill and Carolyn Darnell.

Larry held close to the promise of eternal life and the beautiful words of the hymn "The Old Rugged Cross"
"Til my trophies at last lay down. I will cling to the old rugged cross and exchange it someday for a crown."
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 5t, for 12pm - 2pm at Morgan Funeral Chapel. Officiating pastor, Pastor Jeff Rowan. Service will immediately follow visitation at 2pm. Larry will be laid to rest at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.
