“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
A Genuine and Meaningful “I Love You” would grace your ears and bless your soul whenever you had the pleasure of crossing paths with our precious Linda. You see, Linda may uniquely be described by one strong, meaningful word: Love. She was the embodiment of Love.
Let us assure you this is no romanticization. We will not lull you with descriptors regarding her love of her family, friends, etc. - mostly, because the limited word count does not allow us to write a Novel. Instead, let us tell you of how she made us smile.
Where Linda stands alone, is her love of God and how she shared His love. She revealed to others, both within and outside the church walls, that both God and she loved them. She greatly loved all fans of the 18 time National Champions Alabama Crimson Tide football team like her brother Billy, but also loved those like her brother Garry: Auburn fans.
Many people, such as her brother Bobby, can claim to never have met a stranger; but Linda, always went the extra step in following her faith to ensure each and every new acquaintance knew “she just loved them!” She would proudly proclaim these sweet words and follow them with a warm, genuine hug.
Linda had a deep passion for teaching children as was exemplified by her teaching Sunday School at Cathedral of Praise and Daycare at First Baptist Church of Gadsden, Coosa Christian, and Gadsden Regional for countless years. She also enjoyed spending time with her fishing buddy, Carl; her chauffeur and shopping buddy, Bivian; and playing Uno and volleyball with Christopher and Cordell. Her most favorite pastime was singing any Elvis song at the top of her lungs, and singing with the choir at church every Sunday for decades. Her flawless alto voice perfectly complimented her sister Tammy’s soprano as they worshipped together.
Linda was born in Gadsden, Alabama on April 20, 1946 to Mack and Christine Watkins. She was raised in the Alabama City Church of God where she has she attended faithfully through her life. Her favorite childhood memory was performing as a majorette for General Forrest Middle School.
She is survived by her dear children James Carlton Owens and Bivian Ann Owens; beloved grandchildren, Cordell and Christopher Owens; siblings, Barbara Robinson, Billy and Donna Watkins, Garry and Jane Watkins, Bobby and Ginger Watkins, and Tammy Parris; and special friends, Joyce and Ken Stephens, and Ted and Derrick Mobley. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Mack and Christine Watkins; husband, Larry Robinson; and, her “favorite” brother in law Paul Parris.
Now that she has arrived in Glory, we may all have slightly better odds at becoming “The Most Loving Person in Etowah County”, although we will all pale in comparison to the previous titleholder.
As there is not a venue in the state that can seat all the individuals she loved, service will be held at Cathedral of Praise In Gadsden, AL on Monday, February 14, 2022. The family will gather at 9:30 am, visitation will be held from 10:00 -11:00 am and service will follow at 11:00 am.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice, and her caregivers, Kaci Connolly, Joann Vaughn, and Ashley Baccus.
Pallbearers will be: Cordell Brand, Christopher Owens, Billy Watkins, Jr., Derrick Watkins, Blake Watkins, and Tyler Parris. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Matthew Stigile and Derrick Mobley.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.morganfuneralchapel.com for the Robinson family.
