Monday morning at 2:23 our beautiful mother gained her wings. She was truly a beautiful person inside and out. She would do anything for her family and friends. Mother had worked as a hair dresser while we were young. Later she was a bank teller at American National/Amsouth. She also worked at Southwest Airlines before joining her husband to help in their business J and L Lamp Company. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, shopping, decorating, traveling and watching Alabama football. She would tell us, “ I am a woman of many trades and a master of none”. Momma was the kind of person people wanted to be around, she could always make you smile or laugh. Her smile was contagious. She was full of spunk and energy and was always able to run circles around us girls. Our hearts are so heavy and we are at a true loss but her pain is no longer an issue. We were truly given the best mother and now because of her belief in God we know He has another beautiful angel.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Victor Vascoe, her father Clarence Abernathy, her mother Marion Abernathy, her sister Sue Price and great nephew Ryder Abernathy.
She is survived by her daughters April Pope and Alison Rosario (Enrique) , Yvette Drummond (Kirk). Grandchildren: Ashley Pope, Austin Snyder, Alixzandra Hoge ( Dylan), Baylee Greene, ( Nick), Bradee Snyder ( Jesse). Great-grandchildren: Carleigh, Owen, Jaxtyn, Emmie, Presleigh Grace, Ivey and Isla Dawn.
Her brothers Jimmy Abernathy, and Mickey Abernathy ( Tina), and sister Penny Abernathy Hartley ( David) many nieces and nephews and cousins. Special cousin and friend Sarah Morris ( David).
Special thanks and blessings to anyone that has prayed for or loved on our beautiful momma during her illness. We are eternally grateful. By moms request there will be no service.
Proverbs 31: 28-31 Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting but a woman who loves the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.morganfuneralchapel.com for the Vascoe family.
