Lula Mae Utter

Lula Mae Utter, 87 of Gadsden passed away July 14, 2021. Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Morgan Funeral Chapel with Rev. Eddie Whitson officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 until 7p.m. Burial at Cave Springs Cemetery.

Lula spent her early years in Attalla, and was married to Thomas Utter for over 50 years. During that time she supported his military career and raised 8 children. They spent 17 years as Foster Parents to dozens of children through Child Haven and The Billingsly Home in Gadsden. Of the eight children she raised, seven of them were through adoption.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Alexander; her mother, Mae Alexander; her husband, Thomas Utter, and her son, Adarius Utter.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Brenda) Utter of Ruffin, NC; Roger (Judi) Utter of Bradford, TN; Lisa (TC) Cook of Southside, AL; Rebecca (Kenneth) Mayo of Attalla, AL; Alicia Utter of Southside, AL; James Utter of Gadsden, AL; and Thomas Utter of Ruffin, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Child Haven, Cullman, AL.
