She is preceded in death by her mother, Martha, her father, Billy, her grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her sister Suzy, nephew Major, and niece Katie.
She was born in Abilene, Texas to Martha Polk Oliver and Billy Oliver. She grew up in Attalla, Alabama, graduating from Etowah High School. She attended Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and after graduation she moved to Japan and served two years as a missionary, before becoming a full time English teacher for an all girls school in Japan. She always said those 12 years were some of her best, and she loved her time there. When she moved back to the states she settled in Hawaii and spent 12 years there, where she embraced the aloha spirit, and loved being by the ocean, before eventually settling back in Attalla. She worked several years at Mountain View Hospital, where she made many good friends.
She adopted a beautiful cat named Yamachan several years ago, and loved and took such great care of her. Yamachan was so important to her and her love for the cat showed in everything she did. Her sister is adopting Yamachan, giving her a good peaceful life in her senior years.
