Mrs. Mary Alice Jaco Patterson, 73, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026.
Born on December 14, 1952, to the late Jesse Jaco and Mary Talton, Mary Alice was a native of Alabama and a longtime resident of Attalla. She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Breeland Talton.
Mary Alice was a proud graduate of Etowah High School and, in 1994, fulfilled a lifelong calling when she graduated from Gadsden State Community College as a Registered Nurse. Caring for others was more than a profession—it was her passion. She took great pride in her nursing career and touched countless lives through her compassion, dedication, and gentle heart.
Mary Alice was known for her vibrant personality and infectious laughter. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially spontaneous road trips and adventures with those she loved. She also had a special fondness for cats, particularly her beloved orange tabbies, which always held a special place in her heart.
Above all, Mary Alice cherished her family. She was blessed to spend 42 wonderful years married to her best friend and devoted husband, Herbert Patterson. Together they built a loving home and raised three children: sons, Patrick Patterson and Stefan Patterson, and daughter, Jamie Patterson. She was also a proud grandmother to her grandson, Jerry Patterson.
In addition to her husband, children, and grandson, Mary Alice leaves behind her sister-in-law, Carol McDonald, and her longtime friend and neighbor, Kathy Bowen, along with many other extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mary Alice's life during visitation on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Morgan Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel.
Morgan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Patterson family.
