Mary Dorthea Simmons

A graveside service for Mary will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Chandler Mountain Baptist Church, 4460 Chandler Mountain Rd, Steele, AL 35987. Bro. Harold Coe to officiate.

Mary was a God-fearing Christian woman and was married to her one true love for 53 years. She was always involved in her church, from singing in the choir to leading youth groups. Her main goal in life was to live her life for God and lead as many to Christ as possible.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Green; mother, Ruby Green; and brothers, Troy, Talmage, Buddy, William, and Chester Green.

Mary is survived by her husband, Charles Simmons; sons, Charlie Simmons (Amy), and Josh Simmons (Sara); grandchildren; Gabriel Simmons, Zachery Simmons, Charlie Gail May (Seth), BreAnna Simmons, Jeremiah Simmons, Henry Simmons; great grandchildren, Hailey May, and Lena Strange, along with her sisters and brothers.

Pallbearers will be Gabriel Simmons, Zachery Simmons, Seth May, Henry Templin, Chad Hitchcock, and Charlie Simmons.

Honorary pallbearers are her nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any missionary spreading God’s word.
