A Chapel visitation for Mr. Copeland will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel on Sunday, August 17, 2025 from 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at Noble Hill Cemetery. Sister Lennie Jo Carroll and Bro. Harry Whitt to officiate.
Memphis was born in Alabama on April 21, 1935 to Leonard Copeland and Gertrude Helton Copeland. For 47 years, he worked at the local steel plant. A man of simple pleasures, he spent much of his time tending to his goat farm, and working in his garden. He had a lifelong love of fishing — especially for catfish — and hunting for deer. Memphis was a passionate follower of current events and rarely missed an evening of Fox News. Always by his side was his loyal dog, Trumper, his constant companion and best friend. More than anything, Memphis loved his family. He was a proud and loving father and grandfather, whose presence and guidance will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Gertrude Copeland; daughter, Jeannie Copeland; son, Toney Copeland; grandchildren, Adam Copeland, and Jennifer Copeland; brothers, Jackie Copeland, and L.C. Copeland; and sisters, Maxine Copeland, Carolyn Copeland, Joyce Clonts, and Jeanette Beasley.
Memphis is survived by his daughter, Michele (Jonathan) Dietz; son, Michael (Donna) Copeland; sisters, Nancy (Ken) Cole, Linda Naylor, and Sue Willett; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jamey) Cook, Matthew (Kendall) Copeland, Katie Dietz, and Ty (Katlyn Bailey) Copeland.
Pallbearers are Matthew Copeland, Ty Copeland, Dalton Cook, Logan Cook, Jonathan Dietz, and Sammy Works.
Honorary pallbearer is Derek Jones.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Altoona Health and Rehab, and Enhabit Home Health and Hospice for their amazing care given.
Morgan Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
