

The world lost a beloved mother, Mildred “Millie” Genevieve Richards Mecham, on December 11, 2021. Millie battled cancer, but it never stopped her from giving out the best hugs. Millie died in her home surrounded by her family. Millie was born in West Virginia on May 22, 1932. She claims to have learned everything she knew from her own loving parents, Ira and Lenora Richards.
Millie was employed with Pacific Telephone in California. She worked as Office Manager with green Valley Lake Estates in Southside until retirement. She was also the past president of the Women’s Club of Gadsden and was a member of the Gadsden Greeters.
Millie was an artist, a crafter, a world traveler and loved writing poetry to her family. She loved the Hallmark Channel and the Holidays. Her heart was always with her family whom she loved dearly. Millie is survived by her two sons, Richard “Dick” Mecham (Judy) and Robert “Bob” Mecham Jr. (Cecila), one sister, Sandy Mitchell of Pleasanton, California, five granddaughters, one grandson and six great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter. Millie’s family made up the entirety of her world.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Mecham Sr., her two daughters, Lenora Mecham Sims, Linda Mecham Cohen and both her parents.
Per Millie’s wishes she has requested a graveside service. Friends are invited to say a final goodbye to Millie on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 1p.m. at Rainbow Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest beside her husband and two daughters.
