

Murl "Rudy" Rudolph Moore, 87, of Ashville, AL, took his heavenly flight on November 27, 2023. A Funeral service will be held at The First Baptist Church Ashville, Ashville, AL, on Friday, December 1, 2023. Visitation will be at 11 am with the service to follow at noon. Interment will be at Bethlehem United Baptist Cemetery in Gallant, AL.
Mr. Moore was born on January 20, 1936, to Clayton Harvey Moore and Helen Margaret Mabrey Moore in Lauderdale County, MS. He graduated from Suqualena School, Collinsville, MS. He married Matred Inez Crenshaw Moore on May 29, 1954. Mr. Moore worked at Soule Steam Works and then for Red Pilot Machine Shop where his career as a machinist took off. After a short time, his career continued at Faulkner Concrete Pipe and before retiring he became a plant manager at Choctaw Pipe Company, Hattiesburg, MS. Mr. Moore retired in 2003 and moved to Ashville, AL, to be close to his daughter. In Ashville he was known as “Rudy” of Too Old Men. Mr. Moore served as an ordained deacon at Midway Baptist Church, Meridian, MS; Cartersville Baptist Church, Petal, MS; and First Baptist Church of Ashville, Ashville, AL.
Mr. Moore was preceeded in death by his parents Clayton Moore and Margaret Moore, his wife Matred Moore and his daughter Pam Schickel.
Mr. Moore is survived by daughter, Paula Brown (Glenn); son, Phillip Moore (Gloria); son in law, Terry Schickel; grandchildren, Lilah Parker (Jason), Terry Lee Schickel, Eric Brown (Jennifer), Emily Goodman (Lance), Hanna Moore, and Katelyn Moore; great grandchildren, Cade Hudson, Mallie Hudson, Mabrey Parker, Dylon Schickel, Clay Schickel, Tyler Schickel, Evan Schickel, Seeley Brown, Hank Brown, Darcy Brown, and Harvey Goodman. He is also survived by his dearest friend and the other half of Too Old Men, Fred Grill.
Pallbearers are Eric Brown, Lance Goodman, Ron Gilley, Fred Grill, Cade Hudson, and Jason Parker.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the church building fund at The First Baptist Church of Ashville, P.O. Box 579, Ashville, AL 35953.
A special thanks to the CNA’s of Gadsden Health and Rehab where Mr. Moore was in their care the last 7 months of his life.
