her heavenly home Wednesday morning, September 27th, 2017. She was a lung cancer warrior and had been on that battlefield for the previous 18 months. She was perhaps the bravest woman in the world. She asked me not to let her suffer, and she did not! She was an educator in Etowah County with Rainbow Elementary and Rainbow Middle Schools as well as Gadsden State Community College. She was of the Episcopalian faith and was more than qualified and prepared to meet her Lord and Savior. Heaven has been celebrating since her Wednesday’s arrival!
She leaves her husband, Mike Lasseter, to mourn her passing, as well as her Brother, David Akridge (Kathy) ;Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law Jane and Dr. Ted Jones; Nieces Tracy Jones, Cathy Millhoff (Scott) and Dana Akridge; Nephews Chad Jones (Tricia) and William Akridge (Jessica); as well as a multitude of loving cousins and many great nieces and nephews. Also, a life time of devoted and loyal friends, to whom she and I are deeply indebted.
Cecelia’s parents, Byford Kline and Marjorie Irene Akridge are deceased, as well as many Aunts and Uncles.
I would like to thank and acknowledge Camellia Hospice and Cecelia’s Oncologist at UAB and MD Anderson for their loving care given to Cecelia during the last 18 months. Special thanks to her friend, Laura Woodward, for her months of unwavering care toward Cecelia’s comfort.
Memorial services and a celebration of Cecelia’s life will be held at 4:00 Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter in Gadsden. Your presence is welcomed.
