Robert was a graduate of Ashville High School and proudly worked for more than 25 years with CSX Railroad. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed the simple things in life, especially hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandson play baseball and cheering him on from the stands.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Counts, and her husband, Bryan Counts, of Hokes Bluff, Alabama; Jeffrey Jones; stepson, Conyers, Georgia; sister, Dean Cox, of South Carolina; his grandsons, Drake Counts, and his wife, Jenny Counts, Brandon Jones, and wife Jennifer Jones, of Alaska. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Joy Flenord, Kim Wise, his special friend Burt Broome, and the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice for the care, kindness, and support given to Robert and his family.
No services are scheduled at this time.
Robert will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of the outdoors, and, most of all, the love he had for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
