Roy Lee Helms

Funeral Services for Mr. Roy Lee Helms, age 87 of Attalla, will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. at Morgan Funeral Chapel with Minister Blake Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Helms passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at his home. His family was most important in his life; he loved to take care of them and his friends. Mr. Helms was a lifelong resident of Attalla and graduated from Etowah High school in 1954. He was a member of Rainbow Church of Christ for 42 years and served as a Mason for 60 years at Attalla Lodge #383. Mr. Helms worked as a Tire Builder at Goodyear for 32 years before his retirement. He was an avid fisherman, loved to garden and keeping everyone fed. Throughout his life, he enjoyed restoring antique cars (originals instead of hot rods).

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jan Helms, his sons, Rodney Helms and Randy Helms (Rachel), six grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Dodd, his step-son, Darren Westbrook, his parents, John T. and Lois Helms, and his siblings.

Active Pallbearers will be his Masonic Brothers.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 11:00 A.M. until service time at 12:00 P.M. at Morgan Funeral Chapel.
