Roy L Wood

Roy Lee Wood, age 82 passed into eternity on Saturday, February 19, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on March 6, 2022 at 2pm at Union Hill Methodist Church. 2905 Tidmore Bend Road in North Gadsden. Cremation services are being handled by Morgan Funeral Chapel. The service will be officiated Pastor Tom Laile and the Eulogy by Pam Farmer (Niece).

Roy was born July 13, 1939 in Steele Alabama, the son of John and Alice Wood. He was a graduate of Ashville High School and joined the Navy in February of 1959 receiving an honorable discharge in February of 1963. He married the love of his life on August 2, 1960 and they were blessed with three children, 6 grands and 4 great-grands with another on the way. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Dotty, and a precious grandson, Phillip.

Roy is survived by his wife of 61 and a half years, Nancy Crumpton Wood, his children Michael (Parrish ) Phyllis, Teresa (Angela), grands, Amanda (Josh), Emily (Tyler), Rachel (Cole), Jonathan (Kate), Jacob (Zelena), great-grands Chloe(Gabe), Layla, Lily and Maverick. Sister Martha Churchill (Carl dec) and Brother James (Sandra dec). Roy left behind many cousins, nieces and nephews whom he loved and they loved him.

Roy accepted Christ as his savior at an early age, attending Shiloh Baptist Church then joining James Memorial Baptist, serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Roy was a gentle man, a loving husband and father with a great sense of humor. Roy will be sorely missed by his family.
