Louise loved her family deeply and showed that love through her generosity and care for others. She enjoyed cooking and made sure everyone else had a plate before she would touch her own. She often told her children, “If I have money, you have money. If I have food, you have food.” Those words reflected the way she lived—with an open heart and a willingness to share whatever she had.
Known for speaking her mind, Louise was straightforward and always willing to help someone in need. She enjoyed gambling, telling old stories, and spending time with her family. Her stories and familiar sayings will remain treasured memories for those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walton Bailey; daughters, Patsy Harrison and Joyce Bailey; sons, Randall Bailey, Larry Bailey, and Tony Bailey; grandson, Junior Bailey; parents, J.T. and Sadie Hammett; and siblings, Audrey Reid, Jeanett Blount, Laverne Scott, Glenn Hammett, Eugene “Buddy” Hammett, and Elton Ray Hammett.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Shirley (James) Montgolf and Judy (Randall) Baird; sons, Danny Bailey and Darrell Bailey; sister, Ruby Phillips; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a special grandson, Daniel “Kenny” Taylor, whom she raised as her own.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m., followed by burial at Shiloh Cemetery in Attalla. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.
The family extends a special thank-you to hospice nurse Hannah Young for her care and compassion.
