

She was the daughter of Mary Kathryn Hadley. She grew up in Attalla and graduated from Etowah High School, class of 1971. Ruth held many positions during her 26-year career at Family Savings Credit Union. She was a member of Cherry Street Baptist Church. Ruth was a talented artist who painted many beautiful paintings, watercolor being her favorite medium. She was a member of the Gadsden Art Association for a number of years. Her favorite event was Art on the Rocks.
Her most important role in life was being the mother of Heather and Ryan. Ruth served in many roles during their childhood, from Girl and Boy Scout leader, to band booster parent, to dance/cheer/basketball mom. She was so proud of her children and always made sure they knew it.
Ruth became ill in September 2009 at the age of 57. She passed away on April 25, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Kathryn Hadley.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Heather (Michael) Colvard; son, Ryan (Brittany) McClendon; stepdaughter, Niki (Jason) Bane; and grandchildren, Easton and Cash Colvard, Cooper and Maelee Kate McClendon, and Avery, Riley, Joshua and Luke Bane.
A Memorial Service for Ruth will be held at Creel Chapel located at Camp Sumatanga on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 10:00 am.
