Terry Leon Hahn was born on April 23, 1943, in Macon County, Illinois. Raised primarily by his maternal grandparents, Terry learned his strong work ethic from his grandfather, who served as a sexton of a local cemetery.
As a young man, Terry spent 22 years as a law enforcement officer in three departments while raising a family of six children. He served as Chief of Police of Altamont, Illinois. His name can be found in the Police Officers’ Hall of Fame in Titusville, Florida.
Terry then moved to his wife’s hometown of Gadsden, Alabama, where he eventually began another career with City of Gadsden Public Works. Terry served as Union Representative for his department. His fierce representation of his fellow workers was legendary. In whatever he endeavored, Terry was a force to be reckoned with.
After a courageous battle with lung cancer, Terry died as he lived – with dignity and strength.
Terry was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents; sister, Eldeeta; step-brother, Larry; and great-granddaughter, Johnnie LeAnn.
