Thomas Levertt Chapman

Thomas was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a dedicated member of Maryville FCM Church.

Throughout his life, Thomas was known for his strong work ethic. He spent many years as an over-the-road truck driver transporting automobiles, a career that suited his love of traveling and seeing new places. He also drove a truck for Etowah County Solid Waste and worked at Tyson Feed Mill. Most recently, Thomas worked for Kabco Builders in Boaz, where he was proud to be affectionately known as “Pops” by his friends and coworkers.

Thomas enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved sitting on the porch, telling stories, sharing laughter, and spending time with the people he loved. He was always ready for a game of Rook—whether someone already knew how to play or wanted to “learn from the best,” as Thomas would say.

Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Pat Chapman; his sons, Timmy (Krissie) Chapman of Altoona and Bryon (Hannah) Chapman of Oneonta; and his daughter, Becky (Doug) Jordan of Attalla; brother Phillip (Belinda) Chapman of Mobile; and sister Sharon (Nicki) Kemp of Rainbow City.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Timothy (Tiffany) Parker, Christopher (Chloe) Jordan, Brianne Jordan, Elizabeth Jordan, Luke Chapman, Reece Chapman, Thomas Chapman, Tanner Chapman, Tristian Chapman, Taylor Chapman, Mark Whisenant, Matthew Whisenant, Malachi Whisenant, and Rosemary Whisenant; as well as 17 beloved great-grandchildren.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Elizabeth Chapman; his brothers, Hyce Gregory and Raymond Chapman; and his sisters, Martha Chapman, Wanda Battles, and Barbie Thacker.

The family wants everyone to know that Thomas’s passing has left a tremendous hole in their lives and hearts. He will be remembered for his warm smile, contagious laugh, wonderful sense of humor, generous spirit, and, most of all, the love he had for everyone around him.

Thomas knew that this day would eventually come, and he often comforted his family by saying, “Don’t cry for me. I will be in a better place. You just make sure you get there too.”

Although he will be deeply missed, Thomas’s faith, love, laughter, and the many stories he shared will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Marshall Medical ICU, Dr. Deborah Reiland staff, and friends and family at Jerry's Pharmacy for the care, kindness, and support shawn to Thomas and his family.

The family of Mr. Thomas Chapman will receive friends on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Thomas's wife, Pat Chapman, to assist with final expenses.
