Russell "Ike" Smith Sr.

Russell “Ike” E. Smith, Sr. (97) of Attica, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Ruffing Family Care Center, Bloomville. He was born December 14, 1916 in Venice Township, to the late Perry A. and Maude A. (Meiser) Smith. Mr. Smith attended Attica High School and was a famer and worked General Electric in the light bulb division. He was a member of Baseline St. John’s United Church of Christ, Grange and the National Guard. He enjoyed being outdoors and nature.

Mr. Smith is survived by 9 Children: Joseph W. (Joyce) Smith of Bloomville, Russell E. Smith, Jr. of Bloomville, Charles W. (Michelle) Smith of Bloomville, Cheryl A. (Lyle) Biederman of Bucyrus, Arnold E. (Barbara) Smith of Attica, Keith L. (Lisa) Smith of Attica, Barbara L. (Kenneth) Lutz of Attica, Susan A. (Fiancé’ Tim Stanley) Kilgore of South Carolina and David R. Smith of Attica. 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, Brother: H. Eugene (Betty) Smith of Bucyrus, sister: Dorothy Cole of Bucyrus and nephew: James Smith of Attica. He was preceded in death by his wife: Arlene M. (Crum) Smith on July 19, 2013, brother: Robert L. Smith and one granddaughter.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the St. John’s United Church of Christ, Baseline with the Pastor Bob Haskins officiating. Friends may call 4-7 P.M. Friday at Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, 295 W. Tiffin Street, Attica and on Saturday 10:00 am until the time of the service at noon at the church.
