It is with great sadness and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Brendan Patrick Sheehan, who departed this life on October 27, 2026 at the age of 35 from the result of massive brain injuries incurred in a traffic accident less than five minutes from the family home.
Brendan was born in Takoma Park, Maryland on May 25, 1991. He was the third child of his parents Karen and John Sheehan. Brendan moved to the Auburn area of California in 1995 and attended St. Joseph Catholic School where he developed a group of friends that grew up playing recreational and competitive basketball.
He graduated from Jesuit High School in 2010 and attended CSU Chico, graduating in 2015 with a degree in Business Administration. After working for several companies in San Jose and the East Bay, Brendan felt a calling to a vocation of teaching. He obtained a master’s degree in education and taught both Social Studies and Special Education at Whitney High School and Mira Loma High School before moving to San Diego with his beloved Corgi Bailey. In San Diego, Brendan taught Special Education at E3 Civic, Helix, and El Capitan high schools.
Brendan enjoyed a large and close group of loyal friends from Jesuit and Chico as well as others that he met along the way. They testify to his joyous, loyal, and supportive personality and loved him dearly.
John and Karen as well as Brendan’s siblings Meaghan, Evan, Nolan, and Patrick invite you to pray for Brendan and celebrate his life at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church located at 11620 Atwood Road in Auburn. A funeral vigil prayer service will be held on Friday, November 6 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 7 at 11:00 AM followed by reception at the Parish Hall.
Brendan’s parents ask that you do not send flowers (the Church brings in fresh flowers every Thursday). If you would like to donate in memory of
Brendan, we recommend that you donate to the St. Vincent de Paul ministry at St. Teresa’s. This ministry supports poor families and individuals in the Auburn area.
