

As a young person, Claude had a passion for baseball and hockey. He was a catcher for the local American Legion baseball team and a goalie for the American Legion hockey team. As he got older, he never missed the Stanley Cups and would invite friends over to watch it with him.
He served with the Marine Corps during World War II on Guam and Iwo Jima. After returning from the service, he married Doris Sather and they moved to Auburn where she had a long career as a teacher for the Auburn Union School District.
Claude began his career as a Draftsman and in Construction working for Gladding, McBean and later for Auburn Lumber before he began his own Construction business and he worked alongside his son Ron until his Retirement.
He supported his children Ron and Sonja in their growing-up years as they participated in competitive diving, little league, snow skiing, and water skiing. He volunteered for the Placer High Music Boosters during Matt's high school years.
Claude and Doris joined Bethlehem Lutheran Church in 1948 and were very active in the life of the church, including, the Church Council, Worship and Music Committee, and the Building and Grounds Committee. Claude and Doris volunteered as the Bethlehem Luther League Leaders for over 25 years, growing the youth group to a weekly attendance of 75 young people. They openly shared their Faith and Love and changed many young lives by sharing their Faith.
In 2007, Claude married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Taylor.
Claude is survived by his daughter, Sonja (& Derek) Plattor of El Dorado Hills, Grandchildren; Garon & Faith Plattor, brother Wallace Eggebraaten, godson, Matt (& Alda) Newcomer of Sacramento, and loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Doris (2005); son; Ron Eggebraaten (2015); Second wife, Shirley Taylor (2017); and brothers Bruce and Bradley Eggebraaten.
A Celebration of Life will be held May 20, 2023 at 11:00 am at Chapel of the Hills in Auburn, CA.
