Clinton James Williams

Clinton James Williams USS Carl Vinson Machinist’s Mate Third Class United States Navy 12/1/1987 – 10/3/2012

Clinton, aka “CJ”, was Auburn born and raised. He graduated from Del Oro High School in 2006 where he participated in the football and wrestling programs as well as played his beloved game of rugby.

Clinton entered the U.S. Navy in the summer of 2009. He was very excited and proud of this and was extremely honored to be of service to his country.

He was first stationed aboard the USS Nassau, a Tarawa class amphibious assault ship. He was later assigned to the USS Carl Vinson, a Nimitz class supercarrier.

Clinton served as a Cryogenic Engineer and was most recently chosen to be a Facilities Liaison coordinating the numerous activities within his department.

His dedication, professionalism, integrity and natural leadership skills were highly regarded by his superiors, peers and subordinates throughout his naval service.

Clinton had the unique ability to “brighten” any space he entered. When you met him, you instantly realized that this was a man who truly loved life, his family, his friends, and would give of himself, unselfishly, whenever and wherever he could.

All those who had the opportunity to interact with Clinton were sincerely graced to have done so. He epitomized kinship, friendship, honesty, integrity and, above all, a true love and zest for life and people.

He is survived by his mother, Tina Williams-Burke; his father, Timothy Williams; their spouses Diane Williams, and Michael Burke; siblings Andrea Esp, Adrienne Clark; and many loving grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Services will be on Thursday, October 11, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, on Atwood Road in Auburn, CA followed by a ceremony at the Newcastle Cemetery on Taylor Road, in Newcastle, CA.

The families would then be honored if you could join them in a tribute and Celebration of Life at the Williams home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Auburn Community Cancer Endowment Fund (ACCEF) located at 11899 Edgewood Road, Suite X, Auburn, CA 95603.

My son serves on the Carl Vinson. We are all saddened to learn of the loss of this very young, talented man.

As a father, it is difficult to learn of this loss. I know everyday is a new challenge and adventure for these growing young minds and bodies. CJ and his dedication to his country will always be admired, and respected. I have seen first hand how these young men grow and find their path. It is quite a remarkable transformation that all of us parents witness. God bless CJ and his loving family. We are all wishing the best for you. CJ will always be a hero in the eyes of our great USA.

Mr. and Mrs. Williams,

I am so saddened to hear of Clinton's passing. I was his leadership at Del Oro. He was such a wonderful young man. I was so proud of him and his accomplishments. I was not surprised to hear of his success in the military, he was such a natural leader.

My thoughts are with you and your family during this most difficult time.

Sincerely, Terry Barker

What a memorable tribute to CJ yesterday. Love poured forth from every heart who could attend, and I'm certain from all who weren't able. We all felt the 21 shots in the pits of our bellies; our hands were reaching out to help fold that flag. No eye was dry. Thank you, Tim and Diane, Tina and Michael for the sharing of your most beautiful son, and thank you Adrienne and Andrea for your beautiful words. For that moment in your dedication, each one of us was in the playful headlock and the loving antics of 3 siblings who adored one another. What an amazing celebration of an amazing life! May God bless you and keep you all.
