Born on June 10, 1943, to Olive and Clair Johnson, Dennis lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, travel, and quiet service to others.
Dennis was a devoted son, a caring brother to his three sisters, and a beloved uncle whose warmth and steady presence meant so much to his family. He carried himself with humility and compassion, always willing to lend a hand while teaching those he helped valuable life lessons so they could grow.
After graduating from high school, Dennis proudly served his country in the California Air National Guard. He went on to build a long career with the phone company, where his strong work ethic and dependable nature earned the respect of coworkers and friends alike. Following early retirement, Dennis moved to Auburn to be closer to his youngest sister so he could help with his niece and nephew, a role he cherished deeply.
Dennis embraced life fully and found joy in the outdoors and in travel. As an avid skier, he was a member of the Oakland Ski Club, where he proudly served as both president and treasurer. He was also an enthusiastic swimmer and scuba diver who loved the freedom and excitement these activities brought him. Whether carving through fresh snow, swimming beneath open skies, or exploring underwater worlds, Dennis lived with curiosity and enthusiasm.
Dennis was also the founder and owner of DJ Recording, helping customers preserve special memories and music through his recording services. Through this work, he generously volunteered his talents to Pioneer United Methodist Church in Auburn, faithfully recording church services and special events so they could be preserved and shared for years to come.
Faith and community were central parts of Dennis's life. He served as treasurer of Pioneer United Methodist Church, where his dedication and generosity were deeply appreciated. He also shared his love of music as a member of the church choir, lifting spirits through song and fellowship.
More than anything, Dennis will be remembered for his gentle heart, quiet strength, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. His memory lives on in the countless lives he touched, the songs he sang, the adventures he embraced, and the kindness he showed every day.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A celebration of Dennis's life will be held on July 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Pioneer United Methodist Church, 1338 Lincoln Way, Auburn, California.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Pioneer United Methodist Church Technology Fund in Dennis's honor.
