Dorothy A. Easton of Auburn, CA passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the age of 102. She was born in Oakland, CA on April 28, 1921, to the parents of Emma and John Adams.
Dorothy graduated from Stanford University in 1941 cum laude as a history major. She met her husband, Erwin C. Easton while at Stanford and they were married in the Stanford Chapel on May 24, 1942. Together they raised their young family in Lafayette, CA where she was active in the PTA, Girl Scouts, and Children’s Hospital. After a brief residence in St. Paul, Minnesota, they returned to Arcadia, CA where she volunteered for the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, joined a PEO chapter, and developed a passion for golf, an activity she engaged in until she was 95. Upon her husband’s retirement in 1993, they moved to Lake of the Pines in Auburn, CA where she continued her work in PEO, joined the ladies golf leagues, and played in several bridge groups.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Erwin C. Easton, and sister, Katherine A., Provo Kluit.
Dorothy is survived by daughters Susan Fuller and husband Michael of Beaverton, OR; Janet Petre and husband William of Auburn, CA; and Gayle Easton of Columbus, Indiana. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the Saddleback Loving Hearts home and Amari Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our mother.
There will be a private celebration at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, CA.
