The world lost a truly remarkable woman this evening. Our mother, Dorothy McCarrick (nee Mulcrevy) died peacefully at Jay and Aileen McCarrick's home. She was a 3rd generation San Franciscan and married to our father, John McCarrick, for 51 years. Her family and her Roman Catholic faith were important to her and she loved baseball (especially the Giants and A's), reading, gardening, golf, traveling and See's candy! She participated in volunteer activities throughout her life up until she was 97 years old.
She was the matriarch of a large family starting with children Jay (and Aileen) McCarrick, Anne (and Bob) Arns, Bob (and Stacey) McCarrick, Jeanne McCarrick, and 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be planned in the future based on COVID-19 guidance. Ironically, she was born in 1918 during the Spanish flu pandemic. Mom touched many lives in her 101 years and we are all better people as a result. She was a vital part of so many lives and will be greatly missed.
