Earl J. Alderson of Newcastle passed away at home surrounded by his family on January 28th, 2016. He was born on July 5, 1939 in Torrance, California, son of Earl and Yvonne (Akens) Alderson. Earl grew up in Southern California where he enjoyed very much the beach and being highly involved in the Boy Scouts. He accomplished some of the Boy Scouts highest honors. He graduated from Redondo Union High School in 1957. He served in the Army from 1959-1962 as a military policeman, along with other duties. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to Southern California, married and had two children. Being a very social person, the interaction with clients during his 41 years in the telecommunication industry was one of the many reasons he loved his career. The variety of work over the years from climbing telephone poles, installing phones for individuals and large businesses, and doing the sideline communication for the Surge and Gold Miners pro football teams, when they played in Sacramento also made his work interesting for him. Earl married his wife, Cheri, in 1984 and moved to the Auburn area a few years later where they truly enjoyed their 31 wonderful years together. Reading, traveling in his RV, cruising and spending time with close friends, children, and grandchildren were a very important part of his life. His witty humor created laughter for many and he was always ready to hear or tell a joke. His kind heart led him to doing random things to help others. He was a member of the Auburn Elks and volunteered at the Food Bank program in the mobile home park where he lived. He is survived by his wife Cheri, daughter Trisha Stephens, son Earl Alderson (Dawny), brother Tom Alderson (Joan), grandchildren Hannah, Autumn, Wyatt, Jesse and great-granddaughter Aria. He will be greatly missed, always loved and in our hearts and memories forever. Per Earl's request there will be no services. A private family gathering will be held at a later time.
