Franklin Terrell Williams passed away on Thursday, June 25, at age 82, after a long battle with heart disease. He was born on March 5, 1938, in Pineland, Texas. He graduated from Pineland High School in 1956, and immediately joined the Army where he served until retirement in 1976, as an E-7. His tours of duty took him to Korea, Hawaii, Texas, Monterey, and twice to Vietnam, for which he was awarded a Bronze Star. After retirement from the Army, Frank went on to a second career as a supervisory programmer/analyst with the Defense Manpower Data Center in Monterey, retiring for a second time in 1993.
A man of many talents, he loved traveling, motorcycles, woodworking, gardening, and changing up the world with new and innovative ideas, but his favorite pastime was tinkering with old English sports cars. He did it well, with his 1966 Austin Healey 3000 becoming a winner in the “Celebrity Judge Contest” at 1996 Hot August Nights.
He was known for his integrity, kindness, generosity, intelligence and a dark, dry sense of humor that kept us on our toes. Filled with vitality and energy, his zest for life never waned.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Connie, his daughters Julie Sorci and Stacie Welliver, his stepdaughters Kristy Stubbs and Kelly Jacobsen, his treasured grandchildren Ashley, Scott, Brandy, Megan, Jessica, Samantha, Michael and Sawyer, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Heide Williams, his parents Melvern and Nancy Williams, his sisters Alice Adams, Doris Jones and Patricia Williams.
Frank loved his Lord and was a longtime member of the Placer Hills Community United Methodist Church, Meadow Vista, CA. He will be interred at Redding Memorial Park in Redding, CA. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, graveside services will be limited to immediate family. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation may be sent to Frank’s favorite charity Placer Hills Community United Methodist Church, earmarked “Gift of Water-Heifer Project.”
“ For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:12-13
