George MacDonald Kalman was born into a hard working family who raised him to be kind, generous, quick with a smile, and most importantly a man of service. Pop, as he was known to many, enjoyed the outdoors, watching his favorite sports teams, and above all else loved being around his family. He loved all 3 of his children, Sandy, Becky, and Bob; all 6 of his grandchildren, Kriste, Jill, Ryan, Kimi, Robert, and Russell; and all 8 of his great-grandchildren, Connor, Mason, Logan, Gavin, Donovan, Maddie, Landon, and Robbie. George graduated from Glendale High, Glendale College, and San Jose State. He served his local community as a member of the Los Angeles Police Department, and had a distinguished career retiring from Sears. George served his country as a US Marine in World War II, and during the Korean War as an officer in the US Army. In retirement, George served as part of the Marine Corp League here in Auburn, Ca. Most importantly, George served, protected, and provided for the love of his life, Shirley. Married 62 years, their time spent together produced adventures, romance, a loving family, and thousands of memories shared by many families and friends that all revolve around the man we love. Services for George Kalman will be held on November 21st from 12 PM until 2 PM at the Auburn VFW Hall, located at 100 East Street, Auburn, CA 95603. Please join us in paying tribute to a life well lived.
